General Manager – Elevated Neighborhood Restaurant
We’re seeking a dynamic, experienced General Manager to lead a beloved, chef-driven neighborhood restaurant in Oakland. Known for its commitment to seasonal ingredients, exceptional hospitality, and community connection, our restaurant is a cornerstone of the local dining scene.
About the Role
As General Manager, you will oversee day-to-day operations, inspire and lead a high-performing team, and work closely with ownership and the culinary team to ensure an outstanding guest experience. You’ll serve as the heartbeat of the restaurant—fostering a culture of hospitality, accountability, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and motivate FOH staff to deliver warm, attentive, and professional service
- Drive operational excellence across floor management, staffing, scheduling, and inventory
- Collaborate with the executive chef and ownership on service flow, menu rollouts, and guest feedback
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health regulations
- Monitor financial performance, control costs, and support budgeting and forecasting
- Be a visible and engaged leader during service—connecting with guests and cultivating regulars
- Hire and onboard new staff, conduct performance reviews, and manage disciplinary actions with care and professionalism
Qualifications
- 3+ years of GM or AGM experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant
- Deep understanding of hospitality and a sincere passion for food, wine, and service
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team
- Strong business acumen, with experience in P&L, budgeting, and scheduling
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with POS systems (Toast experience a plus)
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
