Minimum Starting Salary:

$16.80 per hour/7.5 hour day

Summary: Employees at this level perform custodial work required in the routine cleaning and upkeep of buildings. They work under direct supervision from designated supervisor/lead, which may be any of the following: Building Services Supervisor, Building Service Sub-Foreman and Foreman.

Duties & Responsibilities:

High and low dusting of surfaces. Wash walls, partitions, clean door and window glass (interior and exterior) that can be reached from the ground. Clean, wax and dust all furniture, tables, exhibit cases, fixtures, wipe down countertops, doors & trim. Empty trashcans and remove recycling from collection areas to proper bins for removal. Move & arrange furniture as needed to accomplish routine tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors. Operates automatic scrubbers, power sweepers, vacuum cleaners, buffers for vinyl & other hard floor surfaces. Carpet cleaning machines with shampoo, extract soil and water from carpets & furniture. Daily cleaning and servicing of lavatories and restrooms. Refill paper products, sanitize toilets and sinks. Wipe down partitions. Assist in special projects/events: clean after remodeling or construction, cleanup after special events. Renovate and renew floor surfaces and finishes, such as strip and wax tile floors. Sweep or shovel snow from steps or walks at building entrances and connecting walks. Required to report items to supervisor that need repaired. Move, furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment as directed. Perform other duties as assigned for required.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications: Required to wear steel toe safety shoes and other assigned items needed for assigned duties and safety. Valid Illinois Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must have an accessible telephone number. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of cleaning solutions. Knowledge of custodial methods. Ability to comprehend and follow written instructions, directions, labeling and measurements. Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner. Knowledge of and prior use of service equipment such as auto-scrubbers, carpet cleaning equipment, power sweepers, scrubbing machines & floor buffers. Ability to read and respond to email. Ability to drive a 16' box truck
