This Advanced Practice Provider will join Primary Children's Surgery Services team, providing care to pediatric patients based at both Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City in Same Day Surgery and Children's Procedure Center, and Primary Children's Lehi in Same Day Surgery and Imaging. Although this position is based at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, this position will need to be able to cover at both locations as needed. Our APPs serve in all of these pediatric patient care settings and may provide minimal sedation services in Imaging. Our APPs provide pediatric patient care in Same Day Surgery, our Children's Procedure Center, and when needed, provide minimal sedation services in Imaging. We work collaboratively with anesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses, and physicians from a variety of specialties. We see patients the day of surgeries and procedures, assess their safety, and implement plans of care including performing histories and physicals, prescribing medications, and intervening as needed. We are a reference for and collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, specialty providers and the perioperative nursing teams. We also continuously look ahead a few weeks in advance to evaluate patients coming for procedures, and optimize them for their anesthesia and procedures. We use provider-level decision making for these interventions in a supportive environment with a strong commitment to excellence and quality improvement. Note: While we work collaboratively with colleagues from the OR, there is no surgical/first-assist time associated with this position. This position is full time, working an average of 36 hours per week, typically scheduled as an 8-hour shift Monday through Friday. The APP may also cover 6, 10, or 12-hour shifts dependent on patient care needs. Currently there is no weekend, evening, or holiday requirements. Current Utah state license as an APRN or PA Certification as a Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant Utah State Controlled Substance Federal DEA Certificate II through V BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers Prior clinical work experience in pediatric care and/or in a peri-operative environment Intermountain Health is a model health system providing extraordinary care and superior service at an affordable cost.
