Consultant
who would be responsible for identifying, planning, directing, and overseeing all aspects of
rehabilitation projects . This role will be primarily responsible for overseeing
multiple projects and providing solutions
and recommendations to clients. The Consultant will provide
technical review, mentorship , and training to specialists, engineers, and other team members. The consultant acts as a technical liaison on matters pertaining to the field of practice.

What You'll Do:
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed in this position. They are not intended to prescribe or restrict the assignments that management may make.
ASSESSMENT Conduct
on-site investigations
and field reviews of existing buildings. Review background documentation
to determine original construction detailing and identify areas of risk (i.e., water penetration, air leakage, and/or condensation, etc.)
Focus on critical aspects of structural engineering, building enclosures, commercial roof systems, waterproofing systems, and exterior facades, including masonry.
EVALUATE
Prepare
reports and presentations
of assessment findings that document the existing conditions and extend defects to provide recommended repairs for damage, defect, or existing condition. Conduct
peer reviews
of findings for direct reports and peers. DESIGN
Participate in and/or
lead meetings
that verify in size and complexity with owners, developers, architects, adjustors, and/or other consultants. Coordinate with internal designers, drafters, engineers, and consultants for the preparation of construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Conduct drawing, detail, and specification
reviews. Review
shop drawings and submittals
for compliance with the project intent, performance with respect to the various building science and engineering principles, and for any scheduling of work issues. OVERSEE
Conduct on-site
quality assurance observations
to review construction for conformance to contract documents, industry standards, manufacturer requirements, and/or best practices. Prepare
site visit reports. Provide
oversight of technicians and specialists
performing field reviews by providing technical/directional advice and reviewing site visit reports for consistency and technical accuracy. Assume full managerial responsibility
for all aspects of the project: scope, schedule, design, budget, quality, staff, execution, and budgets COMMUNICATION
Act as a
trusted advisor
to clients and prospective clients; own and develop the client relationship. Explore and capitalize on opportunities to
enhance service with or upsell existing clients and projects. Proactively keep clients and
stakeholders informed
of project status and changes. PERFORMANCE
Perform
project tracking and quality control , including regular project status reviews of actual vs. planned, facilitating project status and review meetings internally and with the client, take appropriate actions to address variance to project plan, follow standardized procedures for change orders and all Lerch Bates processes/procedures. Manage time, budgets, resources , and schedules effectively using the department tools. Ensure
personal utilization
and direct report consistently meets established goals. LEADERSHIP
As applicable,
manage direct reports , including but not limited to training & mentoring, reviewing reports, managing schedules, regular 1:1's, and developing and leading 90-day and annual reviews. What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree
in engineering discipline: Civil, Structural, Construction, Architecture. P.E./AIA
or another relevant Licensure. A minimum
5 years of experience
in the architecture, engineering, and/or construction industry. A strong understanding of
residential, commercial, or institutional building design
and construction. Knowledge of
building enclosure design principles . An ability to communicate
complex technical information
and build rapport with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, employees, and other industry stakeholders via written & verbal reports and presentations. Technical competency
and an ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with clients, co-workers, and sub-contractors. Excellent skills in
technical writing and communication . Flexible, responsive,
and confident
multi-tasking skills . An ability to
work independently , handle multiple deadlines, and accommodate shifting priorities. An ability to lead and contribute to the team in a
collaborative, interactive environment. A demonstrated commitment to quality, organization,
meticulous attention to detail, and consistency in work product. Previous experience working for a contractor for structural,
building envelope , commercial roofing, and/or waterproofing projects. Previous experience
working with project accounting
and budget management. Proficiency in one or more design/modeling software programs, including

This role involves both physical and mental demands and may be performed in various settings, including offices, construction sites, and confined spaces like elevator pits. This role requires regular sitting, talking, and hearing in meetings and by phone. Employees must navigate tight spaces, climb ladders, move around construction sites, take measurements, and travel by car, air, or rail. Close visual attention is also required.
