Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Monitor Technician to join our Nursing team. In this role, you will be responsible for continuous monitoring of patient cardiac rhythms, identifying life-threatening arrhythmias, and ensuring timely communication with nursing and medical staff. Your work will play a crucial role in safeguarding patients in both ICU and general care units. Key Responsibilities Monitor all EKG waveforms for arrhythmias, ectopy, and rhythm changes. Print and post telemetry rhythm strips at designated times (0700, 1100, 1500, etc.). Complete and document telemetry reports in Meditech for all assigned patients. Communicate promptly with floor nurses regarding abnormal rhythms, rates, or events. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and strip filing. Ensure telemetry equipment is properly assigned, charged, and maintained. Collaborate with charge nurses, unit secretaries, and CNAs for patient status accuracy. Respond appropriately to patient emergencies by alerting the appropriate care team. Qualifications Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of arrhythmia course with at least 80% score. Annual telemetry competency exam with at least 80% score. Ability to identify life-threatening arrhythmias (e.g., V-tach, ventricular fibrillation). Sufficient English communication skills (verbal, written, comprehension). Preferred: Previous hospital experience with knowledge of medical terminology. CPR certification (required if cross-trained as CNA/LPN providing direct patient care). Compensation & Schedule Competitive hourly pay, based on experience. Full-time and PRN opportunities available. Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on department needs.
