Clinical House Supervisor

7:30am and one 7am

7:30pm every week Havenwyck Hospital (a UHS facility) Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Position Summary

The House Supervisor (RN) is responsible for quality nursing care and overall supervision of nursing staff members for a particular hospital shift. She/he is responsible for nursing care delivery for admissions to the hospital on his/her shift. The House Supervisor (RN) needs to have a working knowledge of the hospital administrative and nursing policies and procedures and community resources to function effectively. The House Supervisor (RN) is responsible for initiating disciplinary action in the Clinical Manager's absence. House Supervisor (RN) duties include but are not limited to: Uses the nursing process to ensure appropriate delivery of nursing care. Has a working knowledge of the hospital's administrative policies and procedures. Has a working knowledge of the nursing services policies and procedures. Adjusts staffing as needed to ensure proper coverage according to designates staff/patient ratios in collaboration with Nurse Unit Manager. Responsible for replacement of staff persons who are scheduled but unable to work. Reports and informs appropriate administrators of any issues that require follow-up. Monitors and evaluates nursing care given, makes rounds throughout hospital. Provides supervision to staff nurses and psychiatric care specialist on his/her designated shift, including disciplinary action. Participates with the Nurse Unit Manager and other nursing managers in the development of therapeutic programs for the unit and particularly for his/her designated shift. Ensures auditing charts for completion, quality and meeting of standard. Responsible for ensuring that all admissions during shift are handled appropriately, following the admission policies and procedures. Assists/oversees restraints or use of seclusion in an emergency situation. Notifying the patient's physician for orders as soon as possible within the guidelines of Seclusion and Restraint Policy. Reviews policy and procedures on a regular basis. Directs activities in all emergency situations, including fire, internal and external disasters, and environmental hazards (tornados) according to procedures. Reviews intake information as needed and collaborates with the Intake Referral Coordinator to ensure a timely referral process. Investigate unusual incidents/complaints from patients, personnel and other departments and reports to the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer. Benefit Highlights

Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing, Bachelor's degree preferred. Current status as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan. Three to five years of psychiatric experience with one to two years of management experience. Current BLS/CPR certification, proficient in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
