Overview
GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Senior .NET Developer to support the Pennsylvania State Police in a remote capacity, with potential onsite work at PSP Department Headquarters in Harrisburg, PA. This role is ideal for a seasoned developer experienced in building secure, scalable applications within the Microsoft stack and Azure environment.
Position Overview
As a Senior .NET Developer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of web applications using .NET technologies, SQL Server, and Microsoft Azure. You'll work with stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions, ensure best practices in architecture and security, and contribute to the long-term scalability and maintainability of mission-critical systems. A strong foundation in the Microsoft development ecosystem and experience working in structured, enterprise-level environments are key.
Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable, cloud-based web application architectures using Azure services (App Services, Storage, Azure SQL, Functions, etc.). Build and maintain secure, high-performance applications using .NET Framework, .NET Core, ASP.NET, C#, and Web API. Develop robust, efficient, and well-structured SQL Server solutions, including stored procedures and optimized queries. Implement and promote security best practices throughout the application lifecycle. Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and maintenance of developed applications. Maintain and extend technical documentation for internal and external use. Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions in collaboration with team members and stakeholders. Provide after-hours support for critical systems as needed. Research and integrate emerging tools, frameworks, and cloud-native patterns. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (4-year college degree) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 6+ years of broad experience in software development, including coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance of Microsoft stack applications. 5+ years of experience with: .NET Framework (1.1 - 4.6.x) ASP.NET (MVC/Web Forms) C# WCF Web Services Object-Oriented Development and design patterns Microsoft SQL Server (database design, integration, and performance tuning) Visual Studio (IDE usage for application development) Maintaining and extending technical documentation
2+ years of experience with: .NET Core Web API development
Proven experience with: Application development in Microsoft Azure Designing and deploying secure, scalable applications Supporting enterprise-grade software solutions
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for complex design challenges. Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrated success in designing and deploying web applications at scale. Willingness to provide after-hours support when required. Preferred Experience
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools, especially Azure DevOps. Familiarity with infrastructure as code (e.g., ARM templates, Terraform). Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban). Exposure to modern JavaScript frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js). Understanding of microservices, service-oriented architectures, and containerization concepts. What We Do:
