Scrambling Rope Techniques Workshop - View Ridge Playfield
Mountaineersbooks, Seattle, Washington, us, 98127
This skill-check session will cover the usage of an emergency descent rope (and a few other lightweight pieces of climbing gear) to aid a frightened participant in descending scrambling terrain.
Prior to the 5/19 skill-check session, participants will need to complete a thorough 2.5 hours of video training, pass a quiz, and demonstrate proficiency in scrambling knots. (This is a skill check workshop; not an introductory instruction workshop.) The video training includes decision-making criteria for assessing whether the situation and terrain are suitable for using a rope, alternatives to rope usage, and critical thinking strategies to avoid using a rope.
Leader permission is required—please email the leader with your background and your current status on the path to scramble leader qualification.
Meeting place and time:
6:15 PM, View Ridge Playfield, Seattle (near the Seattle PC)
Parking location: 7130 45th Ave NE, Seattle, WA
Bring boots, a diaper harness, a locking carabiner, a Prussik loop, and your rope if you have one.
