This is an evaluation to receive trad equivalency. We will not be teaching any skills. Students need to have led at least 5 trad routes rated 5.6 or higher if seeking single pitch equivalency and at least 2 multi pitch routes if seeking multi pitch equivalency. Routes in Vantage tend to be vertical and folks should be comfortable leading at least 5.7 for this evaluation. Single pitch applicants should have successfully led at least

5 trad routes rated at least 5.6 Multi pitch applicants should have swapped leads on or led all of the pitches of

at least 2 multi pitch routes,

at least one of which should have required gear anchors. placing trad gear on lead (both active and passive), including an understanding of safe gear spacing, zippering, when to extend pieces etc building gear anchors and anchors for bolted climbs clean and lower off a bolted anchor while your climber keeps you on belay demonstrating a multi pitch transition with your partner (rope stacking, gear swap, tying in to anchor safely etc) building a terrain anchors (like a tree or rock) and being able to clean and rappel that anchor multi pitch rappel techniques including connecting two ropes for double rope rappels, saddle bags, pre-rigging rappels using an extended rappel for your partner belaying from the top, lowering from the top, unloading a weighted ATC device Meeting place and time TBD but likely 9am at the main parking lot Trad rack, harness, helmet, climbing shoes Helping people explore, conserve, learn about, and enjoy the lands and waters of the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
