Role Overview

As a Principal Process Controls Engineer at Design Group, you will play a critical leadership role within our Control System Integration Practice, collaborating with industry experts to deliver innovative solutions in the food & beverage industry. You will lead complex automation projects, mentor engineers, and develop standards to enhance process automation and controls. What You’ll Do

Serve as a subject matter expert in process control systems, including FactoryTalk Batch, PlantPAx, and ISA-88 standards. Lead project teams through all phases of automation projects, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance. Mentor and develop engineering staff, elevating organizational expertise. Support the creation of standards and best practices for process automation. Engage with clients to understand needs, define requirements, and build lasting relationships. Innovate by evaluating new technologies and approaches. Participate in business development, proposal writing, and opportunity reviews. What You’ll Bring

At least 15 years of process controls engineering experience with leadership and client-facing roles. Expertise in FactoryTalk Batch, PlantPAx, and ISA-88 standards. Experience with instrumentation, networking, PLC/SCADA, and system integration. Proven leadership in project delivery. Excellent communication skills for engaging teams and clients. Experience in proposal development and project estimation. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Recognition as a technical leader or SME; participation in industry standards is a plus. Willingness to travel for project needs. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering; Master’s or PE license preferred.
