Surgical Tech - Operating Room FT Evening (12-hour)

Under the supervision of the OR Clinical Manager and the general direction of an anesthesiologist, the Anesthesia Technician is responsible for coordinating and managing activities related to the Anesthesia Department. This role provides anesthesia support services throughout the medical center for surgical and non-surgical procedures requiring anesthesia.
Core Competencies
Acts as an expert in anesthesia technology, serving as a resource for staff on the use, assembly, and care of anesthesia equipment.
Maintains an inventory of anesthesia equipment, including manufacturer details, guidelines, preventive maintenance schedules, and maintenance records.
Coordinates and supervises stocking of specialized carts (Difficult Intubation, Pediatric, Invasive Monitoring, Block, and Epidural).
Oversees the cleanliness and readiness of anesthesia equipment, including daily safety checks of Omnicell Workstations, anesthesia machines, and specialty carts across departments.
Reviews anesthesia supplies for supply chain compliance, establishes par levels, maintains inventory logs, and oversees ordering in collaboration with the Perioperative Business Manager.
Ensures daily anesthesia apparatus checks are completed and documented.
Interprets manufacturer procedures and guidelines related to equipment use and safety.
Maintains and assembles Level One Rapid Infusers for emergencies.
Records all equipment used by the department, including serial numbers and maintenance/repair logs.
Participates in annual performance appraisals and contributes to the global management of anesthesia equipment, including ordering and inventory.
Assists in the interview and selection process for anesthesia technicians.
Supports anesthesia procedures by setting up invasive monitoring equipment, assisting with difficult intubations, and emergency procedures.
Prepares and assists with the setup of various lines and catheters, including Swan Ganz, arterial, IV, and epidural lines.
Adheres to infection prevention guidelines, uses proper precautions, and maintains a sterile environment.
Initiates emergency measures during cardiac or respiratory arrest.
Coordinates daily schedules and patient care priorities with the anesthesia team to ensure efficiency and quality.
Maintains patient confidentiality and discusses patient information discreetly.
Answers calls promptly and relays messages appropriately.
Manages resources and inventory to support safe, efficient patient care.
Coordinates orientation and training for new personnel and identifies educational needs.
Assists team members and participates in clinic activities, meetings, and in-services.
Experience & Additional Information Basic knowledge of cardiac and respiratory anatomy and physiology related to anesthesia. Familiarity with operating room procedures, sterile technique, and anesthesia care. Ability to set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain complex anesthesiology equipment. Good reading comprehension, accurate spelling, and effective communication skills.
License / Certification Requirements BCLS or ACLS Certification
Compensation Range:
$34.62 - $55.06 / hour
