The Director, EHR Applications, is a member of the BILH IT Service Line Leadership team, responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of assigned patient care/clinical applications and/or administrative applications with accountability for enterprise-wide results. The Director provides leadership, promotes collaboration, and ensures customer satisfaction, resulting in strong team cohesion and positive morale. The role requires a strong understanding of the EHR system and healthcare landscape. Projects may span across all divisions of BILH, managing financial responsibilities and aligning with the BILH IT mission and vision. Primary Responsibilities:
Manage the execution of work set by the IT Senior Leadership to support health information technology application management, fostering a business-oriented culture driven by continual service improvement techniques. Oversee the implementation of EHR applications and related solutions, contributing to strategic design, development, operation, and support of EHR systems that meet business needs. Champion the relationship between IT and organizational leadership to align EHR goals with safe, quality-driven clinical care. Ensure excellent customer service and adherence to SLAs, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and maintaining strong leadership connections. Manage resource allocation within the department, collaborating with other EHR leaders on prioritization and understanding project efforts and workloads. Support EHR application projects, daily operations, and resolve break-fix issues across BILH. Monitor departmental functions to ensure compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements. Handle HR responsibilities including talent acquisition, retention, performance reviews, and staff training; manage contract staff as needed. Participate in hospital planning and policymaking committees, ensuring EHR functions align with organizational policies. Perform additional leadership roles such as project liaison, vendor management, and other responsibilities as assigned. Authorize and support managerial employment actions including hiring, termination, and performance management. Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields preferred. At least 5 years of experience in healthcare IT or related fields, with 2+ years in leadership roles managing teams. Experience managing a team of IT staff in both in-person and remote settings. Experience in budget planning and management. Ability to make broad management decisions impacting multiple departments; participate in strategic planning.
