Bowhead seeks a Data Scientist with a strong background in data trend analysis to join our team supporting Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), E Department.
Responsibilities
Apply mathematics, statistics, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques to discover meaningful patterns and insights in data.
Design, develop, test, and document software components to deliver value to stakeholders.
Build tools for data testing.
Analyze large volumes, velocities, and varieties of data (numbers, symbols, text, sound, images).
Develop predictive, real-time, model-based insights to support decision-making.
Present data insights creatively to diverse audiences.
Identify, validate, and utilize internal and external datasets.
Manage data and information structures, including taxonomies, data, and metadata.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in physics or equivalent experience in data science, with 5-8 years of relevant experience.
Strong analytical skills related to database management and development.
Knowledge of relational databases and data warehousing.
Experience creating reports and dashboards.
Experience with Virtual Machines or AI is highly preferred.
Proficiency in SQL querying.
Coding and software development experience is highly preferred.
Strong mathematical reasoning skills.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
Knowledge of analytical tools and evaluation techniques.
Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to communicate effectively with senior government clients.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must maintain a Secret level clearance. US Citizenship is required for Secret clearance at this location.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
