The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is seeking a Design Engineer to join our Design Unit - Section 4 – Consultant Design - Group 1 team. The successful candidate will report to the Engineer-In-Charge and be responsible for preparing contract documents, specifications, and final estimates; conducting engineering investigations; developing contract plans and working drawings; conducting field surveys; compiling reports; participating in reviews and studies; and designing projects with minimal oversight. Authorization to work in the United States is required. NYC Department of Design and Construction does not sponsor visas. Applicants must meet all qualifying requirements at the time of application. Note the following preferred skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD Knowledge of infrastructure projects (sewers, water mains, roadways) Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards Understanding of NYC infrastructure and current engineering practices Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and ENV SP credential (preferred) Valid driver's license (required) Personal vehicle (optional) This position is open to qualified persons with a disability under the 55-a Program.
