Sr. Energy Storage Network Engineer - Renewables Location:

FULL-TIME REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)

This is an opportunity to join an industry-leading renewable energy venture with strong private equity backing, focused on developing, executing, and operating dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects.

They are at the forefront of the industry, with over 9GW of projects in a relatively short period, and are currently expanding rapidly, including adding a Sr. Network Engineer to the Asset Management Team.

This critical role will drive the Asset Management strategy in Operational Technology (OT), Network Engineering, Telecommunication Systems, and Automated Control Systems across the portfolio. It involves hands-on leadership in developing network/communication control system architecture and methodologies for innovative utility-scale renewable energy projects involving battery storage technology, integrated with a proprietary data-driven decision-making platform.

Responsibilities:

Serve as an SME for all network management, control center design, telecommunication engineering, and operational technology.

Own control systems architecture, integrations, algorithms, network models, and conceptual design based on ISO/RTO requirements.

Design and configure LANs and WANs, including hardware such as firewalls, routers, switches, and supporting wireless technology.

Lead installation and integration of fiber optics, Ethernet, virtual and physical servers, ensuring network security.

Manage OT Network performance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and oversee third-party contractors.

Assess grid-tied inverter software and hardware solutions, including plant commissioning and construction.

Drive cybersecurity, system recovery, backups, and security audits across assets.

Coordinate with stakeholders, including Renewable Developers, Regulatory bodies, ISOs, and internal teams.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, focusing on Electrical Engineering, Power Control Systems, Network Engineering, Telecommunications, IC&E, or Automation Systems.

Experience in OT network commissioning, site reviews, and project execution.

Ability to conduct technical assessments of utility-scale renewable energy grid-tied inverter solutions.

Proficiency in defining telecommunication network operational scopes, conceptual design, and technical requirements.

Practical skills in diagnosing network issues using tools like Wireshark and NMAP.

Knowledge of network security measures, including firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco), intrusion detection, and encryption.

Understanding of communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, TCP/IP.

Strong cybersecurity knowledge aligned with NERC/CIP and NIST standards.

Experience in designing and maintaining WAN/LAN systems, managing TCP/IP services, and firewalls.

Familiarity with OT hardware/software (e.g., Ignition, PLC, RTU) and scripting languages.
