We are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our Austin Team (hybrid work schedule)
The Legal Counsel supports the Legal and Compliance Department with drafting and providing comprehensive legal counsel in assigned areas of responsibility. Legal Counsel will be expected to take primary responsibility for the company's day-to-day commercial & contracting needs as well as expand the scope of their existing legal expertise by working on a variety of legal issues as described more fully below.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide counsel to key stakeholders regarding interpretation and applications of laws & regulations Work cross-functionally with shared services teams to advise on legal issues & collaborate to offer creative solutions to achieve the department's goals Provide strategic guidance to the company on HCP engagement and contracting practices. Educate and counsel Marketing, Professional Clinical Services, Business Development, and Clinical Research teams on legal issues relevant to their departments Determine whether desired business activities, practices, and agreements comply with the applicable laws and regulations, including healthcare laws such as the Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, and HIPAA Consult with management, commercial advisors, and other business team members to provide counsel on legal matters affecting the company Negotiate and draft commercial agreements, and advise on legal risks of same Maintain company minute books for all North American entities Manage outside litigation counsel for lawsuits brought against the company in North America Design & implement new policies and subsequent e-trainings for areas of legal and compliance relevant to the company Participate and provide legal advice or deliverables on transformative company projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams Stay up to date on proposed and existing legislation, reviewing business practices and policies, and advising the company of necessary changes and/or potential risks Qualifications
