Embedded Software Engineer, Chassis Systems Join to apply for the Embedded Software Engineer, Chassis Systems role at Tesla . Overview The Chassis Systems team is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer specializing in actuator control development. Your responsibilities will include delivering high-quality software to control vehicle actuators influencing longitudinal, vertical, and lateral dynamics. You will develop efficient, safe, and robust code compatible across multiple vehicle platforms, integrating sensors and motor controls, and establishing safety mechanisms on embedded targets. Additionally, you will contribute to design decisions regarding electrical architecture, microcontroller selection, software architecture, and PCB design. Join our industry-leading team committed to building the safest and most performant vehicle control systems. Responsibilities Develop safety-critical software for RTOS, sensors, and motor drivers. Perform hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, and code optimization. Conduct bench and PCB-in-the-loop testing for software verification. Make performance and optimization trade-offs to meet product requirements. Design abstractions for code reuse across vehicle platforms. Specify sensor, actuator, and computational performance requirements. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience with demonstrated exceptional ability. Proficiency in C programming. Familiarity with MISRA C and Python is a plus. Hands-on experience with microcontroller peripherals (ADC, CAN, GPIO, PWM, SPI). Experience with electrical schematics and circuit behavior understanding. Experience working with sensors and digital signal processing. Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS). Knowledge of control loops like PID controllers is a plus. Knowledge of build systems (SCons, Bazel, Buck) is a plus.
