Our IS4S Ogden, Utah location seeks an experienced communications engineer to support the development of a modular, open communication system for unmanned airborne platforms. Candidates should be self-starters, teachable, and able to learn new skills, working collaboratively to solve challenging technical problems. Work varies from core, low-level development to high-level system architecture design that interacts with other DoD components. Job Role(s): This position will: Provide technical expertise in the design and porting of waveforms to software defined radios (SDRs) Develop standards-based SDRs for the DoD Serve as a technical team member or task leader as required Oversee sub-contractor integration of government-owned waveforms providing PHY, Link/MAC, and Network solutions Maintain and expand knowledge of relevant technology Participate in special projects as required The successful candidate will have: A strong desire to contribute to team success Excellent written and oral communication skills High proficiency and experience with datalinks Required experience: Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain an active Secret security clearance. B.S. in a relevant field required; M.S. or Ph.D. preferred. Prior experience with tactical waveforms, software defined radios, embedded software development, RF hardware design and testing is necessary. Some travel may be required. Additional qualifications of interest include prior military datalink experience, familiarity with DoD open standards, proficiency with Link 16 terminals and tactical radios, modeling networks of multiple waveforms, radio front end and antenna integration, and experience working within or with the DoD.
