The Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate cost records, analyzing manufacturing performance, and supporting product pricing and margin analysis. This role ensures cost integrity across the supply chain and supports strategic financial initiatives.

Primary Functions:

Cost Accounting

  • Responsible for analysis and reporting requirements related to inventory and margin across multiple product lines
  • Maintain and update standard costs for all products.
  • Analyze and explain cost variances (material, labor, overhead).
  • Assist in the preparation of cost of goods sold and inventory reports.

Financial Analysis

  • Support new product costing and scenario modeling.
  • Collaborate with engineering and procurement to assess cost implications of strategic decisions and new product launches.

Inventory Management

  • Assist with inventory cycle counts and related variance analysis in collaboration with the Inventory Management team; work crossfunctionally to ensure count accuracy and timely reconciliation.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory accounting policies.

Process Improvement

  • Identify cost improvement opportunities and support operations team in evaluating the ROI of operational improvement projects
  • Support ERP implementation and enhancements to cost reporting enhancements.

Additional Accountabilities:

  • Participates in the companys efforts to continuously improve in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, and a positive work environment.
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting with 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environmentor a combination of related experience, education, and/or training to effectively perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Actively pursuing CPA certification or being exam-eligible is preferred; licensure is considered a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and work in accordance with our Company Values

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
