Principal Software Development Embedded Engineer

As our Principal Software Engineer you will plan, design, develop and test software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products. You will work with customers to resolve customer complaints with software and respond to suggestions for software modifications or enhancements.

Salary Range:
$ 138,700.00 - 184,900.00 per year plus bonus

Your Challenge
Plan, design, develop, and test new software or complex enhancements to existing software for embedded systems based on specifications in compliance to industrial, military and aerospace standards
Implement and integrate, or debug embedded software (C / C++)
Support and closely collaborate with systems engineering and hardware development teams
Work with technical staff to create sustainable solutions and develop resolutions for software and/or hardware problems
Resolve customer complaints with software and respond to suggestions for software modifications or enhancements
Assist in the development of software user manuals and software design and test documentation
Development tools: Subversion, Visual Studio, GreenHills Multi SW Development Suite, COSMIC SW Development Suite, DOORS, JIRA, ClearQuest, VectorCAST, LabVIEW
What You Bring
BS Degree in Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering
At least 10 years of related experience
Fluency in embedded (C/C++) software development
Proficiency in the following aspects of Linux software: Character device drivers, User-space applications, Socket programming
Proficiency in block device drivers and network drivers, is desirable
Scripting language (e.g., bash)
Building and installing open-source applications
Debugging tools (e.g., GDB, strace, /proc, Background Debug Mode)
Lab debugging equipment (Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG emulators)
Proficiency in Wind River Linux/Fedora/Red Hat build environment is desirable
Realtime safety critical software development is desirable
Full software lifecycle development in accordance with DO-178C is desirable
Fundamental understanding of software regression testing/verification
Python and LabVIEW programming is desirable
Familiarity with requirements management (IBM Rational DOORS experience preferred)
Strong communication and collaboration skills, and proficiency with MS office
Familiarity with industry guidelines and standards for engineering processes
