A fast-growing leader in the nuclear services industry is seeking a
Payroll Manager
to oversee and optimize all aspects of payroll operations for a growing, multi-jurisdictional workforce. The ideal candidate is a technically proficient, compliance-oriented payroll leader with strong analytical skills and experience managing complex payroll structures across multiple states. Working collaboratively, the new leader will drive payroll accuracy and process efficiency by leveraging payroll platform while ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Salary + Additional Benefits:

Responsibilities:
Manage and process weekly and biweekly payrolls for exempt and non-exempt employees across multiple U.S. states and potentially international locations. Oversee end-to-end payroll functions in ADP, including onboarding, pay rate changes, bonus payouts, off-cycle payments, and terminations. Reconcile payroll reports, earnings, deductions, and taxes to ensure accuracy. Review and validate timekeeping inputs, PTO accruals, and benefit deductions. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws, and union agreements (if applicable). Ensure accurate and timely filings of quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, W-2s, and other required tax documentation. Collaborate with Finance and Legal to support audits, internal controls, and SOX compliance (if publicly traded or PE-backed). Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential and aligned with data privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA). Continuously improve payroll workflows to maximize efficiency and minimize risk. Lead or participate in ADP system upgrades, configuration changes, and integrations with HRIS, accounting, and time-tracking platforms. Build and maintain payroll dashboards and reporting for Finance, HR, and business leadership. Partner with HR on compensation adjustments, new hires, terminations, and benefits coordination. Coordinate with Finance on payroll journal entries, cost allocations, and cash flow forecasting. Support the annual budget process and provide insights on payroll-related trends and projections.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or related field Minimum 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or lead role Demonstrated expertise processing payroll in ADP Workforce Now Experience managing payroll in multi-jurisdictional environments (5+ states minimum); international experience is a plus but not required Strong understanding of wage & hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and labor code variations Familiarity with general accounting principles related to payroll (e.g., accruals, GL mapping) Comfort navigating ambiguity in a high-growth, fast-paced company Experience supporting a workforce with variable compensation structures (e.g., bonuses, commissions, project-based pay) Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus Experience in a professional services or consulting environment is preferred Familiarity with integration between ADP and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workday, SAP) is preferred Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities and projects Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion Technologically savvy with intermediate to advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP's, pivot tables, etc.)
