Job Description & Requirements Specialty: NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/02/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Location: New York, NY 10029 Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Schedule: 3 shifts/week, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Every other week 4th shift/month) Weekly Breakdown: Weekly Gross: $3,116.60 Per Week On W2(Taxable): $813.60 Per Week Stipend(Non-Taxable): $2,303.00 Per Week Summary: Neonatal ICU is responsible for delivering safe, competent, and high-quality nursing care to critically ill neonates. This role requires specialized knowledge and skills to care for newborns with complex medical conditions, including those requiring mechanical ventilation and specialized interventions such as ostomy and bubble CPAP management. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care: Provide nursing care based on Relationship Centered Care and the nursing process, incorporating theory, research, and evidence-based practice. Assess and evaluate patient conditions, apply critical thinking in care management. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in care planning and evaluation. Educate patients’ families regarding care plans, disease prevention, and discharge planning. Prioritize patient care activities including teaching, rounding, and coaching. Deliver bedside care in accordance with hospital standards and protocols. Patient Experience: Promote therapeutic relationships with patients and families, respecting cultural diversity and preferences. Role model Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care practices, including purposeful hourly rounding and communication techniques. Address patient and family concerns promptly and escalate as necessary. Demonstrate empathy, active listening, and compassion in all interactions. Quality and Safety: Practice safe, patient-centered care and participate in quality improvement activities. Identify and report safety hazards and compliance issues per hospital protocol. Engage in peer reviews, nursing research, and evidence-based quality initiatives. Utilize clinical documentation tools (e.g., EPIC) to support quality and performance improvement. Operations: Perform charge nurse duties as assigned, including inventory and supply management. Facilitate patient throughput and resource allocation during shifts. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation complying with regulatory standards. Professional Development: Maintain and enhance clinical nursing skills, advancing knowledge in neonatal care. Participate in shared decision-making, nursing councils, and continuing education. Uphold ethical nursing practices and promote a professional image at all times. Qualifications: License: Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License required. Certifications: BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required. Experience: Minimum 2 years of NICU experience in a hospital setting. Mechanical ventilation management experience required. Ostomy and bubble CPAP experience required. Experience with Level 3 and Level 4 NICU patients. Travel nursing experience preferred but not required. Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate degree considered with relevant experience or ongoing BSN matriculation. Technical Skills: EPIC experience highly preferred.
