Watch Our Story: HDR Engineering is seeking Project Managers and Routing and Siting Leads to join our growing team of Environmental and Power Delivery professionals in the Southwest Region (AZ, CA, NM, NV, UT). Primary Responsibilities As a Senior Transmission Routing and Siting Project Manager, you will: Lead renewables and substation siting, transmission line routing, and siting efforts in HDR’s Southwest Region. Manage and provide technical leadership on projects, overseeing all aspects of larger, complex projects. Grow and lead a high-performing team to execute these projects effectively. Possess a strong background in environmental and site development services related to the power industry. Focus on transmission line routing and siting, primarily in the Southwest Region, with potential work in other regions. Develop client relationships, network, and strategize for future projects. Visualize, build, and direct strategic programs focused on siting activities. Responsibilities include: Managing client relationships for select clients. Leading risk management activities for contracts and project deliverables. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, attorneys, planners, environmental specialists, and real estate experts. Conducting routing/siting studies and analyses, preparing reports. Monitoring project scope, schedule, and budget. Advising on state filing requirements and preparing siting applications. Preparing environmental review documents (e.g., CEQA, NEPA). Travel approximately 20% of the time. The ideal candidate will perform multiple tasks across projects, contribute to technical documentation, and support diverse projects from start to finish. The role requires independence, teamwork, attention to detail, organization, effective communication, and a focus on quality and client service. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Science, or related field. At least 10 years of experience in linear projects involving land acquisition, routing, or environmental planning. 8+ years experience in proposal writing, scope development, budgeting, and scheduling for complex environmental projects. Experience with applications to state utility agencies and system operators (e.g., CA PUC, CA-ISO, SPP). Experience providing expert witness testimony. Knowledge of permit requirements in HDR’s Southwest Region states. Strong conceptual, organizational, analytical, and research skills. Ability to manage multiple complex, time-sensitive projects effectively. Proactive problem-solving skills and positive interaction with design and construction teams. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. Minimum 10 years of related experience. At least 5 years of project management experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating, scheduling, and project management software. Excellent organizational, communication, and team interaction skills.
