Key Responsibilities:
- Perform structural foundation analysis for marine and shipbuilding applications, including dry docks, piers, vessel supports, and heavy equipment foundations.
- Develop and review structural design calculations, finite element models, and technical reports.
- Interpret and apply to industry standards to US Navy specifications.
- Collaborate with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and construction teams to ensure structural designs integrate seamlessly with shipyard and vessel systems.
- Prepare and check engineering drawings, material specifications, and fabrication details.
- Conduct load analysis for static and dynamic conditions, including vessel motion, wave, and environmental loads.
- Support field inspections, foundation load testing, and construction activities to verify compliance with design intent.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during the design, fabrication, and installation phases.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality control standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent (preferred).
- Minimum 5+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 3 years in marine or shipbuilding environments .
- Proficiency in structural analysis software and CAD tools.
- Strong understanding of foundation design principles, soil-structure interaction, and load distribution in marine settings.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards
- Excellent problem-solving, technical writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a shipyard or marine construction environment , including occasional travel and field work.
