Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns
- Ensure timely payment of estimated tax payments
- Respond to and resolve tax notices received from various tax authorities
- Maintain accurate records and workpapers to support all filings
- Clean up and reconcile asset listings
State & Local Compliance
- Prepare and file personal property renditions and make required payments
- Complete annual reports and maintain business licenses
- File local and Multi State business tax returns and renewals
- Oversee unclaimed property reporting and compliance
Financial Analysis & Internal Controls
- Review tax-related general ledger accounts and reconcile discrepancies
- Support the development and maintenance of internal tax controls and procedures
- Collaborate with accounting team on tax-related reporting for audits and financial statements
Continuous Improvement
- Stay current on evolving tax laws and regulations
- Document internal tax procedures and best practices
- Identify tax planning opportunities and provide recommendations for optimization
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 3+ years of experience in corporate or public tax accounting
- Strong understanding of corporate income tax, financial reporting, and tax compliance
- Proficient in tax software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA
- Master's degree in Accounting
- Background in public accounting
