Senior Tax Accountant
The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for planning, tracking, and facilitating the preparation of local, state, and federal tax returns for all entities. This role ensures accurate and organized maintenance of supporting documentation and collaborates closely with the accounting department to ensure proper classification of transactions. The position also involves preparing tax adjustments and supporting ongoing compliance efforts.
Senior Tax Accountant Responsibilities:
- Assist with the coordination and review of Forms 1120S, 1065, 1041, 1040, 1099 tax filings
- Participate in preparing tax estimates for multiple entities
- Reconcile financial statements to tax documents (1099, K-1s, etc.)
- Prepare tax journal entries
- Maintain fixed asset depreciation schedules
- Monitor and report on property tax issues
- Update and maintain investment tax basis schedules
- Assist in preparing a variety of government compliance reports, including sales and use tax, value-added tax, property tax renditions, and BEA reports
- Research complex tax issues and document findings in memorandum format
- Prepare analytical schedules and support special projects as assigned
- Perform other work-related duties as required
Senior Tax Accountant Qualifications:
- 10+ years' of corporate tax experience with strong knowledge of local, state, and federal tax laws, including trust, individual, and related-party tax matters
- Understanding of Trust tax accounting preferred
- Bachelor's in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred
- Proficient in accounting and tax software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite), with advanced Excel and strong data analysis skills
- Solid foundation in bookkeeping, accounting principles, and financial reporting
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills with strong attention to detail
- Able to manage multiple priorities independently in a dynamic environment
