Our client, a well-established and multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm, is seeking a
Senior Electrical Engineer
to join its team in Durham, NC. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead electrical engineering projects across a variety of sectors including municipal, commercial, educational, and healthcare facilities. Responsibilities: Lead and manage electrical engineering projects from concept through construction
Design and develop electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and low voltage systems
Oversee the preparation of construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and architects to ensure integrated project delivery
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff
Perform site visits and field inspections to assess existing conditions and ensure construction compliance
Coordinate with clients, utility companies, and regulatory agencies as needed
Ensure projects meet applicable codes, standards, and quality assurance guidelines
Participate in proposal development and project budgeting
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
PE (Professional Engineer) license required, preferably in North Carolina or the ability to obtain reciprocity
Minimum of 8 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, ideally within consulting or A/E firms
Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), lighting design, and energy codes
Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SKM or similar
Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with sustainable design practices and LEED projects
Familiarity with local and state building codes in North Carolina
