ESA is seeking an experienced

Principal Air Quality & Acoustics Analyst

to lead and manage complex CEQA/NEPA projects in collaboration with scientists, engineers, architects, and specialists on large-scale municipal and private development projects. The ideal candidate will specialize in air quality, noise, vibration, health risk assessments, greenhouse gases, hazardous materials, or related environmental disciplines. Responsibilities include client interaction, stewardship, and representing ESA in business development activities.

Who You Are

You have a minimum of

10 years of experience

leading or directing high-quality community and environmental analyses, including CEQA and NEPA documentation, for public and private clients. You are knowledgeable about air quality regulations at all levels in California, air permitting, noise ordinances, and related environmental guidance.

You are an effective team player and communicator, capable of mentoring junior staff and contributing to team issues. You have experience with various environmental documents such as EIRs, SCEAs, CEQA exemptions, EISs, and EAs.

You are familiar with California Department of Transportation templates (AQR, AQCA, NADIR, etc.) and have experience working with airports, seaports, infrastructure, parks, and planning documents.

You can conduct, review, and provide QA/QC on emissions and noise modeling using software like Excel, CalEEMod, EMFAC, AERMOD, and RCNM.

You possess excellent oral and presentation skills, with experience leading marketing efforts, proposals, and interviews.

You hold a bachelor's degree in environmental, urban, or transportation planning; atmospheric science; climate and sustainability; geography; public policy; or a related field.

What You Will Do for ESA

Lead or direct CEQA/NEPA projects, ensuring environmental compliance and timely delivery within budget.

Serve as a CEQA specialist, managing complex analyses and coordinating with team members and clients. Familiarity with NEPA is a plus.

Produce clear, concise technical and written products, and participate in client meetings, community workshops, and public hearings.

Lead proposal development for projects, including scope, budget, and scope modifications.

Support marketing and business development efforts, mentor junior staff, and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

ESA offers a pay range of approximately $96,728 to $145,092 USD, determined by experience, education, skills, and location.
