Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)
This position is responsible for the implementation of companywide mechanical engineering programs. Responsible for managing the engineering activities necessary to plan, design, license, construct and start-up capital projects for natural gas combined-cycle power plants, typically custom solutions for equipment efficiency and operation. Manages the engineering process from original concept through final implementation and is responsible for administrative/operational/technical leadership of the project(s) including managing of outside Engineering Service Providers. Defines project scope and objectives. Assembles project teams, assigns individual responsibilities, develops project schedules and is responsible for determining and acquiring resources needed. Must be familiar with the entire scope and requirements of the project(s). Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables. Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems. Responsibilities may include contracts, supply chain, quality assurance, government relations, etc. Provides technical guidance to other departments within Calpine. Provide technical leadership to both internal and external organizations and entities.

Collaborate and solve problems – works with others to resolve significant issues, clarify or interpret complex information, provide initial screening/negotiations.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
In-depth experience across knowledge areas and multiple functions including project management; typically requires 10+ years in engineering and 10+ years in area of specialization.
