JOB DESCRIPTION

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data, supports strategic decision-making through financial analysis, and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Financial Controller works closely with senior leadership to manage risk, optimize financial performance, and contribute to the company's long-term financial health.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages accounts payable ensuring that vendor invoices are reviewed, approved, and entered in ERP system for timely payment. Determines vendor payment method and payment cycle. Manages accounts receivable ensuring that customer invoices are prepared and submitted daily. Reviews and monitors customer collection efforts ensuring customer payments are remitted timely. Prepares journal entries with supporting schedules for month-end close. Reviews account balances, reconciling as necessary, to ensure account balances are supported. Prepares monthly financial results reporting package and presents results during financial review. Develops and maintains financial close checklist and calendar for timely reporting. Monitors intercompany receivable and payable balances; reconciles balances with other divisions. Proposes intercompany payments and netting between locations. Prepares division and departmental budgets by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data. Recommends financial plans in conjunction with division management. Maintains, studies, and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. Analyzes data obtained and records results. Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on costs. Reconciles inventory, WIP, and various other accounts monthly, including bank reconciliations compliant with GAAP reporting. Compiles cost data for preparation of annual budgets and standard cost setting. Ensures timely filing/remittance of government mandated reporting. Maintains fixed asset database including capital projects, physical inventory of assets, and depreciation according to corporate requirements. Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential. Assists in calculation of cost savings for budget and measurement of actual savings. Manages the annual financial audit; prepares schedules and account analysis to support audit efforts. Ensures timely and efficient completion of audit. Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. Develops and implements accounting procedures. Ensures accounting personnel are adequately trained to perform assigned tasks and responsibilities. Establishes cross-training efforts so coverage is available for all tasks. Provides appropriate coaching and/or disciplinary action necessary to evoke safe behavior. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. Analyzes changes in accounting regulations to determine the impact on financial reporting. Audits various division activities, operating and accounting, to ensure program effectiveness. Compiles management indicators and reviews with division management, proposing corrective actions as needed. Create and manage the office budget and bookkeeping activities. Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality. Comply with company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & RELATED EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required. A minimum of five years of progressive related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A CPA license in good standing is preferred. The ability to accomplish established work goals in a remote setting is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data. Proficiency in Microsoft products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Professional interpersonal skills, appearance, and attitude. The ability to use mathematics to solve problems. The ability to handle diversified assignments and assist with special projects. The ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate. The ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES AND INTERACTIONS WITH OTHERS

The Financial Controller oversees finance staff on a daily basis. The position will also be expected to interact with co-workers, customers, and vendors daily.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties are typically performed in an office environment. The work environment is usually a well-lit environmentally controlled indoor environment with a moderate level of noise. This is a full-time position, and the hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Work hours may vary depending on the operational activities and required duties; evening and weekend work may occasionally be required.
