Job Summary

The Enterprise Data Office (ECDO) is at the heart of BMG Money's strategy to become a fully data-driven organization. We are seeking a passionate and experienced

Data Governance Lead

to play a critical role in this transformation.

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Data Governance Lead to help define, implement, and mature our enterprise data governance program. Reporting to the Head of Data, this individual will lead the development of policies, standards, stewardship practices, and quality assurance processes to ensure critical data is well-managed across the organization. This role is central to improving data trust, enabling regulatory compliance, and supporting business innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Support the development and rollout of BMG's enterprise data governance framework, aligned to business priorities and regulatory obligations (e.g., FCRA, GLBA, CCPA). Operationalize the governance lifecycle, including metadata management, data classification, lineage, ownership, and usage policies. Establish and support a federated data ownership model by working with domain-aligned Data Owners and Stewards to define, document, and maintain Critical Data Elements (CDEs). Facilitate Data Domain Councils and working sessions to drive accountability, resolve data issues, and ensure alignment across stakeholders. Define and manage Data Quality (DQ) thresholds, issue management workflows, and remediation efforts in collaboration with business and technology teams. Implement and monitor KPIs for data quality across priority domains and CDEs using tools like BigQuery, Looker, and Google Dataplex. Lead and operationalize the Data Certification process to validate that data meets quality, completeness, and control requirements before it is used in regulatory filings, operational processes, or business-critical analytics. Maintain a repository of certified datasets and support downstream teams in leveraging trusted data assets. Work with business and data owners to formally sign off on data quality criteria, lineage, and controls for certified data assets. Promote the adoption of enterprise metadata standards and help maintain accurate business metadata in the enterprise data catalog (Google Dataplex). Ensure business definitions, data types, authoritative data sources (ADS), and usage guidance are documented consistently across domains. Lead training and awareness programs to promote data literacy and governance best practices across the enterprise. Serve as a change agent to embed data accountability and a culture of data ownership into daily business operations.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related function, preferably within financial services or another regulated industry. Strong knowledge of governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM) and data-related regulatory requirements (e.g., FCRA, GLBA, CCPA). Proven experience operationalizing CDE documentation, data stewardship, and data quality monitoring practices. Experience with cloud-native data platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure). Excellent facilitation, collaboration, and communication skills with a proven ability to influence across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience with consumer finance regulatory environments. Hands-on experience with modern data governance and cataloging tools (e.g., Google Dataplex, BigQuery). Familiarity with data visualization tools like Looker or Tableau. Experience with SQL for data analysis and profiling. Professional certification in data governance or data management (e.g., DAMA CDMP). Experience working in Agile environments.
