Credit Review also evaluates Credit Risk’s ratings, processes, and methodologies. The group reports to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and its function is independent of Credit Risk’s processes. Role Overview We are currently seeking an outstanding candidate responsible for providing timely and effective review and challenge to retail credit portfolios, including but not limited to credit cards, consumer loans, residential mortgages, and lines of credit. The candidate will assist Credit Review team members in performing independent risk assessments of the quality of underwriting and effectiveness of risk management for retail credit exposure. Responsbilities The Credit Review Associate will be part of a dynamic team responsible for providing objective assessments on the quality of retail underwriting and credit risk management. The team’s specific responsibilities include ensuring that there is timely recognition of any potential weaknesses in the retail credit portfolio, monitoring adherence to policies and procedures, and challenging underwriting criteria. Execute a risk-based annual Retail Credit Review plan and continuous monitoring program Assess the level of credit risk and the quality of credit risk management practices Identify potential credit risks, assess the impact of those risks, and determine the root cause Lead credit reviews, prepare reports and conduct meetings with the Business and Credit Risk, as applicable Use tools and techniques, including sampling and transactional testing, to effectively identify and assess adherence to credit policies as well as weaknesses in underwriting Conduct portfolio monitoring and segment analysis (e.g., product, vintage, score band, or delinquencies) through the use of data analysis tools such as SQL and Tableau Ensure reviews and portfolio monitoring are completed within established timelines and in accordance with Credit Review policies Produce quantitative analysis and qualitative commentaries for Credit Risk, Firm, and Bank management Evaluate Credit Risk Policies to assess that the appropriate controls are in place to effectively manage credit risk and monitor adherence to approved policies Participate in ad-hoc and special projects, as applicable Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of work experience in retail credit review, retail credit analysis, credit scoring and/or retail credit research Extensive knowledge of consumer/retail products and portfolios including unsecured loans and credit cards Experience with retail credit/loan review or internal audit processes Experience with acquisition, account management and Collection processes Knowledge of retail credit regulations and guidance Functional background or relevant experience in finance and accounting Knowledge of retail lending products and understanding of credit/loan documentation Strong Excel skills and experience using data analysis tools such as SQL, SAS, Python, Tableau (or similar) Strong analytical, project management and communication skills; familiarity with credit score distributions and portfolio segmentation analysis; credit loss forecasting; allowance for loan and lease losses and charge-off processes Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently Ability to work independently within a team structure Flexibility, ability to learn quickly Functional Expertise
