Program Manager 1 - Social Services

This position is located in the Office of Adult Service/Classification Records. We're looking for a Program Manager 1 - Social Services to join our staff at the Department of Corrections - This position plays a critical leadership role within the Department of Public Safety and Corrections inmate records department by providing oversight of offender records, while ensuring efficient and accurate time computation release processes for those sentenced to the department. It facilitates coordination between multiple facilities and ensures compliance with any updates or changes to departmental policy, and applicable state and local laws affecting inmate records, under the supervision of the Program Manager 2. The position acts as a central point of contact for internal departments, external agencies, and legal authorities, helping to resolve complex and time-sensitive issues while supporting public safety, operational efficiency and assisting to provide the DPS&C a safe, productive, and professional staff environment in accordance with the mission and vision of the Department. Minimum Qualifications

Seven years of experience in administrative services; public health, social services, or health services; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus four years of experience in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services; OR A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services; OR An advanced degree in a social science field, public health, counseling, social work, rehabilitation services, business, public, or health administration, or Juris Doctorate plus three years of experience in administrative services, public health, social services, or health services. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Specification

Ability to provide empathetic leadership while managing and promoting development of team performance through effective systems. Establishing priorities and work standards of the Pre-Classification Program in order to enhance operational efficiency and assisting to provide advancing skills in a safe, productive, and professional staff environment in accordance with the mission and vision of the Department. Supervise and evaluate ARDC Managers, WAE workers and oversee a staff of approximately 50 personnel to communicate information correctly and ensure operational accuracy and efficiency. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational or Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of Louisiana State Government Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted. An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
