About this unit 8 South Oncology is a forty-four bed, adult inpatient unit driven by the complex clinical and psychosocial needs of the Oncology patient population. Nurses on this unit care for patients experiencing various stages and complications from hematology/oncology diagnosis. Patients may range from the newly diagnosed to those seeking end of life care. Our unit provides the opportunity to develop critical thinking and assessment skills while working with high acuity patients, managing the latest chemotherapy and biotherapy regimes, blood product administrations, pain management, and central line care. In addition to the technical aspects of the position, 8 South provides the unique opportunity to develop and maintain strong relationships with patients and their families throughout the course of their treatment. Scope Of Work

Under the direction of the nurse manager or other nursing leader, the assistant nurse manager has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in the department. Qualifications

Effective June 1, 2025, bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) Required.

2 years of relevant Oncology nursing experience Required.

Participation in leadership activities (Unit, hospital, or system Shared Governance meetings, Precepting, Charge nurse role) Preferred. MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required. AHA or ARC Basic Life Support Required. ONCC Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Preferred. ONCC Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) within one year Required.
