Job Summary / Purpose Under the direction of a licensed practitioner and with little supervision, performs procedures, using diagnostic imaging equipment designed for ultrasound imaging. Provides health care services as needed, using ultrasound to assist in diagnosis and treatment. Performs procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by, or at the request of, a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides patient care and recognizes essential critical thinking skills needed for successful completion of procedure. Essential Key Job Responsibilities Assesses patients and their abilities to participate in ordered procedures. Provides a clear explanation of the procedure including; duration, process, and what to expect following completion. Provides patient education as appropriate. Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality. Selects proper equipment, setting correct technical factors, procedure protocols and gathering proper supplies prior to performance of the procedure. Obtains clear and complete history from the patient and or patient record and records that data into patient record to assist in image interpretation and future patient encounters. Performs quality assessment of images obtained and is able to evaluate equipment issues and escalates concerns as indicated. Completes quality tests on equipment as required. Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Performs other duties within scope of role as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program ARDMS board certification within 6 months of hire Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association 6-9 months of ultrasound experience strongly preferred but not required Overview From primary to specialty care as well as walk-in and virtual services CHI Health Clinic delivers more options and better access so you can spend time on what matters: being healthy. CHI Health has an immediate need to add a PRN Clinic Sonographer (Ultrasound Tech) to our MFM Clinic at CUMC Bergan Mercy 7710 Mercy Rd. Clinic Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30am-5pm Rotational. No weekends, no holidays, no call! Unless directed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement, applications for this position will be considered on a rolling basis.
