The cook is responsible for preparing a variety of food at the chef's discretion. The cook is limited in scope of responsibility when compared to the kitchen operation as a whole. The cook may operate one or a select few pieces of kitchen cooking equipment (Flat Top, Grill, Saute, Salads, and Pantry), and largely focuses on prepping items to be cooked. They prepare food items according to the recipes. They maintain a clean and sanitary work area. The cook is a fast-paced position that's essential for the kitchen to operate at the desired level. Job Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, and vegetables using a variety of kitchen equipment and techniques. Know and comply consistently with portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures. Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service for our guests. Maintain a clean and sanitary work station. Collaborate with other kitchen staff and management to maintain effective product flow. Handle, store, and rotate all products properly. Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed. Opens and closes the kitchen stations properly, assists others, and follows checklists. Understands and follows proper rules of hygiene and food safety measures. Job Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. 2+ years prior restaurant kitchen experience (preferred).
