Overview:
We’re seeking an experienced CDI professional to serve as a key educator and second-level reviewer. This role focuses on improving documentation accuracy, ensuring proper DRG assignment, and supporting quality outcomes. You’ll coach and mentor CDI Specialists, provide real-time feedback, and collaborate closely with Coding and CDI leadership.

Location: Remote to eligible states Salary: $80-90K
Key Responsibilities: Conduct second-level reviews (concurrent and post-discharge) to validate clinical documentation and DRG assignment Educate and mentor CDI Specialists on documentation best practices, query compliance, and clinical coding guidelines Identify trends and training needs through audit findings and performance reviews Act as a subject matter expert and support documentation improvement initiatives across departments Collaborate with coding, quality, and CDI leaders to enhance documentation workflows and outcomes
Qualifications: RN, RHIA, RHIT, MD, or equivalent clinical background Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS or CDIP) required 3+ years of concurrent CDI experience in an acute care setting Strong knowledge of clinical workflows, coding guidelines, and documentation compliance Excellent communication, critical thinking, and mentoring skills
Preferred Skills: Experience with DRG optimization, query writing, and audit processes Familiarity with case mix index (CMI), HAC/PSI indicators, and quality metrics Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, virtual team environment
