Exciting Opportunity in Salisbury, NC: Join Our Team as a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist! The Salisbury VA Medical Center is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join our team! Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Call Coverage: Per rotation, 1 week every 5 weeks Academic Affiliation: Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Position Requirements: U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is impossible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA policy. Education: A Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine is required. Licensure: Candidates must possess a current, complete, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. Residency: Completion of a residency program in an accredited core specialty. Board Certification: Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Ophthalmology. Experience: Preferred experience in treating medical retina conditions with anti-VEGF therapies, basic glaucoma, and cataracts. Benefits: Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days per year (including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and a possible five-day paid absence for CME). Retirement: Traditional federal pension (vesting after 5 years) and a federal 401(k) with up to 5% contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many federal programs can be carried into retirement). Licensure: One full, unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory. CME: Possible reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time with board certification). Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. Contract: No physician employment contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.
