This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to work with a team of specialists to deliver compassionate, age-appropriate care to young patients facing mental health challenges. This position is recruited and hired by Sheppard Pratt Solutions on behalf of Beverly Hospital, a Sheppard Pratt Partner. It is an On Call role covering Anna Jaques Hospital in Amesbury, MA, including telehealth night calls and weekend and weeknights in person. Weekend coverage is from Friday 8 pm to Monday 8 am, and weeknight shifts start at 5 pm to 8 am.
Responsibilities:
- Psychiatric evaluation of Child & Adolescent patients from the ED after crisis team assessment for potential admission to the psychiatric unit at Anna Jaques Hospital.
- Weekend, holiday, and vacation coverage, including remote evaluations, admission approvals, and placement of new patients.
- Conduct admission workup, treatment planning, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with mental, behavioral, addictive, or emotional disorders (e.g., psychoses, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders).
MDs Legal Documentation:
- Signatures required on Sections 10/11 (conditional voluntary admission), 12 (involuntary admission), and 21 forms. APRNs cannot sign these forms.
- MDs must co-sign treatment plans prepared by APRNs.
Admissions:
- Perform history and physical exams, order diagnostic tests (blood, urine, noninvasive x-rays), and prescribe medications within licensure scope.
- Manage daily operations including writing orders, progress notes, and discharge summaries (under supervision for APRNs).
- Use EPIC EHR for documentation, which must be complete, daily, and timely.

Minimum Requirements:
- Current Massachusetts medical license at hire.
- Board certified or eligible in psychiatry.
- Experience working with children and adolescents.
