JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: McKinney-Vento Driver
FLSA: Non-Exempt
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under limited direction, provides transportation for homeless students classifed under the McKinney-Vento federal law. Reports to the Director of Student Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operates vehicle for transporting students to and from school.
Creates transportation routes to maximize efficiency for getting students to and from school.
Works collaboratively with the district's social worker.
Maintains and completes transportation records of McKinney-Vento students.
Presents a positive image of Spartanburg School District Two at all times.
Operates district transportation vehicle and general once equipment.
Performs other related duties as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with Passenger Endorsement Preferred.
Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
Applicants must not have had their license suspended in the previous 12 months for a moving violation.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the policies, practices, activities, methods and procedures of the district as they pertain to the specific duties of the job.
Knowledge of the required records, charts, documents, and related information which must be prepared and maintained as a requirement of the job.
Skills/Effort:
Advanced organizational, human relations, communications and interpersonal skills.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with district staff.
Ability to use independent judgment and discretion.
Ability to complete, process, and maintain all required records, reports, and related information.
Ability to develop and maintain effective communications with immediate supervisor, students/parents, and the general public.
Ability to operate general office equipment such as a vehicle, computer, calculator, copier, etc.
Working Conditions:
Road environment with exposure to environmental/weather conditions.
Physical demands are restricted to office work requiring movement/lifting items weighing up to twenty pounds.
Routine local travel required.
Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require considerable attention and meeting deadlines.
8 Hours - (5:30 am - 10:00 am and 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
