Pediatric Infectious Disease Physician

Children's Minnesota is one of the largest pediatric health systems in the United States and the only health system in Minnesota to provide care exclusively to children, from before birth through young adulthood. The Infectious Disease Program at Children's Minnesota is seeking a Pediatric Infectious Disease physician to join their experienced group.

The Pediatric Infectious Disease program includes nine dedicated physicians and one dynamic nurse practitioner and boasts a strong collaborative approach where clinical practice, decision making, and sub-specialty interests are encouraged. The ID program cares for children with acute and chronic infectious disorders in the greater area of Minnesota and western Wisconsin, as well as those referred from eastern North Dakota and northern Iowa.

The Pediatric Infectious Disease group practices at the two hospital-based sites of Children's Minnesota in Minneapolis and St. Paul, which include large neonatal and pediatric ICUs, and a large and growing Cardiovascular ICU, with a heart transplant program. Additionally, Children's is home to Minnesota's primary perinatal and pediatric HIV care program.

Providers are responsible for inpatient and outpatient infectious disease consultations, and ongoing care for patients with a broad variety of acute and chronic infectious conditions. Work collaboratively with talented hospitalist medicine and emergency medicine providers along with a full complement of pediatric medical and surgical specialists. Additional partners include a robust Immunology program, which includes two physicians and one nurse practitioner.

The Pediatric Infectious Disease group serves as principal participants in the Antimicrobial Stewardship program, which includes one dedicated provider from the team, a dedicated Pediatric Infectious Disease PharmD and a multidisciplinary working committee. The ID group also works closely with the Infection Prevention and Control team, with one dedicated provider that provides clinical consultative expertise. The group also works closely with the Value and Clinical Excellence department by engaging in quality improvement projects including clinical guideline development.

The Children's Hematology and Oncology program is expanding to CAR-T therapy in the coming years, and particular expertise and interest in the infectious disease interface with these patients is desired.
