JOB SUMMARY

As an Automation Engineer at CPP, you will leverage your expertise to design, program, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC control systems within a dynamic aerospace investment casting manufacturing setting. Strong skills in ladder logic programming are essential, and familiarity with robotics (especially Fanuc and Kawasaki) and ignition programming is a plus but not a requirement. In this role, you will enhance operational efficiency, ongoing optimization, and continuous improvement of automated systems while ensuring CPP upholds the high standards demanded in the aerospace market.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, implement, and maintain automation systems to optimize efficiency in the investment casting process.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and enhance robotic systems and PLCs to ensure reliable operations.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with PLC-controlled systems, sensors, and various automated machinery.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to automation systems to maximize productivity.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to ensure effective integration of automated systems.
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation of system designs and operating procedures.
  • Provide training and technical support related to PLC programming and automation systems.
  • Stay informed of advancements in automation technology to apply innovative solutions.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to tackle production challenges.
  • Assist with programming and troubleshooting automated and robotic systems as needed.
  • Work flexible hours as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 3+ years in automation engineering, preferably in investment casting or manufacturing environments.
  • PLC Programming: Strong expertise in PLC programming with a focus on ladder logic and hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley or similar platforms.
  • Automation Systems Experience: Solid knowledge of automation components including sensors, actuators, and SCADA systems.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent troubleshooting abilities for resolving complex automation issues.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Safety Focus: Awareness of safety regulations and best practices in manufacturing environments.
  • Robotics Experience: Hands-on experience with Fanuc and Kawasaki robotic systems is advantageous but not essential.
  • Ignition Programming: Familiarity with ignition systems in manufacturing contexts is a plus.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Working Environment: Mix of shop floor and office settings.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Required PPE: PPE requirements vary throughout the facility, as advised by supervisors.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be necessary for site visits.
  • Safety Glasses: Required in all areas of the facility.
  • Steel Toe Shoes: Required in all areas of the facility.
