About the Role:

As the Maintenance Engineering Manager, you’ll lead and oversee all aspects of equipment and facility maintenance across the plant. Reporting to the Deputy General Manager of Engineering, you’ll manage a talented maintenance team, implement effective preventative strategies, and drive improvements in safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. This role is a critical part of the leadership team, supporting the facility’s overall success and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all maintenance operations in a steel manufacturing environment.
  • Lead and develop a team of 17 maintenance technicians, 6 staff engineers, and a maintenance supervisor.
  • Collaborate with operations and plant leadership to align maintenance activities with production goals.
  • Drive preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
  • Manage capital improvement projects, including budget planning and execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Supervise contractors and outside vendors on facility upgrades or installations.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and efficient work environment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Military training or equivalent manufacturing experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of MRO systems, maintenance strategies (TPM, RCM), and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proven skills in PLC programming, automation, and hands-on technical troubleshooting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a collaborative, team-first mindset.

Bonus Skills:

  • Familiarity with ASME Codes, OSHA/Industrial Hygiene standards, and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing complex budgets, capital planning, and risk management practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly in an industrial setting.
  • Comfortable working in environments that include heat, humidity, and moving mechanical parts.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
  • Occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
