Position Summary:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the facility's maintenance operations to ensure optimal equipment performance, plant uptime, and infrastructure integrity in support of a high-volume Tier One automotive manufacturing environment. This role oversees the preventive and predictive maintenance programs, leads a team of skilled maintenance professionals, manages capital improvement and facility expansion projects, and ensures full compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards. The Maintenance Manager is a hands-on leader, skilled in troubleshooting, strategic planning, vendor management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee day-to-day activities of the maintenance department to ensure plant equipment and infrastructure are properly maintained.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation issues to determine root cause and implement effective resolution.
- Ensure timely maintenance and repair activities to minimize production downtime.
- Develop and manage maintenance schedules, timelines, and work order systems; monitor progress and completion.
- Maintain targeted equipment uptime through proactive management of maintenance activities.
- Establish and maintain a robust preventive and predictive maintenance program.
- Identify departmental needs for tools, equipment, supplies, and replacement machinery.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of external contractors performing repair, installation, or construction work within the facility.
- Manage building space allocations, layout changes, and support facility expansion or renovation projects.
- Conduct on-site assessments to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Lead construction and infrastructure growth projects, including permitting, inspections, and compliance with building codes.
- Oversee and maintain the facility’s physical systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, welding, and janitorial functions.
- Provide emergency maintenance support across shifts to ensure operational continuity.
- Drive and implement process improvements aligned with business objectives.
- Conduct routine plant inspections to identify potential problems and initiate corrective actions.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective execution of construction and capital projects while maintaining project scope and budget.
- Manage contractor compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Investigate maintenance-related concerns, implement corrective actions, and maintain documentation and reporting.
- Hold maintenance team members and vendors accountable for performance and deadlines.
- Maintain effective working relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Manage hazardous waste and ensure compliance with RCRA and DOT regulations.
- Complete annual training for RCRA/DOT hazardous waste management as required
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7–10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Previous experience in an automotive Tier One supplier facility strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage projects, and drive process improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, RCRA, and DOT regulations and compliance practices.
- Ability to manage budgets, capital planning, and vendor relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours or different shifts when required to address emergency or time-sensitive issues.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
