Direct Counsel
We are seeking an Intake Attorney to evaluate potential workplace claims and guide prospective clients through the initial legal process. This role is essential in screening cases related to wrongful termination, workplace
discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, and other employment law maters. The ideal candidate has strong legal analysis skills, a client-focused approach, and a solid understanding of federal and state employment laws.
Key Responsibilities: • Conduct in-depth intake interviews with potential clients to assess the merits of employment-related claims. • Analyze workplace disputes involving discrimination (e.g., based on race, gender, age, disability), sexual harassment, wage and hour violations, and wrongful termination. • Apply knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, and state-specific labor statutes, to determine legal viability. • Draft detailed case assessments and summaries for senior attorneys, highlighting legal issues, key facts, and potential claims. • Educate prospective clients on their legal rights, possible courses of action, and next steps in the legal process. • Collaborate with intake coordinators and paralegals to ensure efficient case intake, documentation, and follow-ups. • Manage a high volume of intake calls and inquiries while maintaining a professional and empathetic approach. • Refer cases internally or provide external referrals for maters outside the firm's practice areas.
Qualifications: • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership • 1-3+ years of experience in employment law or plaintiff side litigation • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and common workplace claims. • Excellent legal analysis, issue-spotting and problem-solving skills. • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts to clients clearly. • Ability to handle a high volume of client inquiries while maintaining professionalism and empathy. • Experience with case management software and intake tracking tools is a plus
