Position Overview:
We are hiring an Intake Attorney to assess potential employment-related legal matters and support prospective clients through the initial stages of the legal process. This position plays a key role in evaluating claims such as wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour issues, and other employment law concerns. The ideal candidate will have sharp legal evaluation skills, a client-centered mindset, and a solid grasp of both federal and state employment regulations.
Primary Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive intake interviews to evaluate the merits of potential employment law claims Assess workplace concerns including discrimination (e.g., race, gender, age, disability), sexual harassment, retaliation, wage/hour violations, and unlawful termination Utilize a strong understanding of employment laws-such as Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, and relevant state labor laws-to determine the viability of claims Prepare detailed case summaries and legal assessments for review by senior attorneys, outlining key facts, legal issues, and potential claims Advise prospective clients on their rights, legal options, and the initial steps of the legal process Work closely with intake staff and support personnel to ensure effective case documentation and follow-up procedures Handle a high volume of intake communications with empathy and professionalism Direct inquiries appropriately, either to internal departments or external resources when matters fall outside the firm's practice areas Qualifications:
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar membership in the appropriate jurisdiction 1-3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in employment law or plaintiff-side litigation Strong knowledge of workplace laws at both federal and state levels, with the ability to analyze common employment-related claims Excellent analytical, issue-spotting, and legal reasoning skills Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, particularly in conveying legal concepts in a clear and accessible way Proven ability to manage a high volume of client interactions while maintaining a compassionate and professional demeanor Familiarity with legal case management systems and intake tracking tools is a plus
