AECOM is seeking an Acoustician to join our U.S. Acoustics and Noise Control Practice, which falls under the Environment business line. This is a hybrid role and candidates may sit out of the following AECOM locations: New York, NY, Chicago, IL, Houston, TX, Denver, CO, Orange, CA, Oakland, CA or San Diego, CA. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Primary support on noise analysis tasks for major transportation, construction, energy, architecture, and development projects across the U.S. Perform predictive analyses with spreadsheet-based tools and commercially available software such as FHWA Traffic Noise Model, CadnaA, and EASE. Deploy and supervise a variety of sound level measurements in the field; conduct and document attended sound measurements; download and process collected data for report or presentation content inclusion. Sound measurement tasks will frequently require working in an outdoor environment. Regular travel across the United States should be anticipated. Research and review regulatory issues regarding local, state, and national codes. Prepare client deliverables (e.g., letter reports, technical documents, graphics, and acoustical specifications). While the position typically adheres to a traditional 40-hour per week work schedule, some night and weekend assignments will be required or expected. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, acoustical science, or environmental policy (or closely related fields). 2 year of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in acoustics and noise control with Datakustik CadnaA. Must be able to work in an outdoor environment with potential for arctic and desert climates and must be able to carry up to 40 pounds. Valid U.S. Driver's license is required for this role. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, acoustical science, or environmental policy (or closely related fields). 5+ years of relevant experience in acoustics and/or noise control. Familiarity with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Park Service (NPS), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and/or Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations and guidance with respect to noise/acoustics. Practical knowledge and experience with environmental, architectural, engineered acoustics, and vibration issues as related to commercial, educational, healthcare, infrastructure, and residential projects. Competency using ArcGIS software, Google Earth Pro, AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Navisworks. Experience working with architects, engineers, developers, and contractors. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team on large projects. Experience with equipment and procedures relating to conducting acoustical measurements. Familiarity with CAD software and tools. Competence with Excel (database manipulation, formulas, conditional formatting, etc.) Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak effectively in public. Demonstrated excellent writing (samples of work requested for review) and verbal communication skills. Additional Information Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required. Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $70,000.00 - $90,000.00.
