Safety & Emergency Response Engineer

The Safety & Emergency Response Engineer at GlobalFoundries Fab 9 plays a critical role in fostering a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, safety, and security (EHS&S) standards. This position supports the 200mm semiconductor manufacturing operations in Essex Junction, Vermont, and is part of a dynamic team dedicated to continuous improvement, emergency preparedness/response, and regulatory excellence. Essential Responsibilities include: Safety Program Development: Assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of site-specific safety procedures and programs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with regulatory and internal standards. Incident Management: Assist with root cause investigations for safety incidents and ensure timely closure of corrective actions. Provide coaching and professional development to maintain safety excellence. Emergency Response: Actively participate in and support the Fab 9 Emergency Response Team (ERT), which includes full-time and volunteer call staff members providing 24/7/365 onsite emergency services. Training & Audits: Assist in EHS&S training delivery, participate in internal audits (e.g., ISO, VPP, Management Systems), and support site readiness for external inspections. Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze safety data for trends and develop action plans. Maintain documentation and reporting systems to support compliance and continuous improvement. Other Responsibilities: Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs. Required Qualifications: Education

Graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Health, Safety, Security, or related field from an accredited degree program. Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and proven good academic standing. Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal). Ability to don respiratory protection (SCBA) and hazmat-related PPE. Preferred Qualifications: Prior related internship or co-op experience. Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc. Project management skills, i.e. the ability to innovate and execute solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity. Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong planning & organizational skills Expected Salary Range $54,200.00 - $110,300.00. The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
