Shipping/Receiving Clerk

We are currently seeking a Shipping/Receiving Clerk for our Elk Grove Village, Illinois facility. This position will be 1st shift which is 8:00AM-4:30PM, Monday through Friday and pays $17.00 per hour. Benefits include: Eligible for medical benefits on your first day! Key responsibilities including but not limited to: Execute all tasks related to managing inbound and outbound shipments including but not limited to updating shipping logs, completing necessary paperwork, accurately labeling materials, identify and resolve shipping issues, loading/unloading trucks and moving items to the proper location. Complete inspections of INBOUND small/large items to ensure they are labeled correctly. Complete inspections of OUTBOUND small/large items to ensure all shipments shipped and pending shipments are labeled correctly. Provide feedback to management on areas of opportunity to improve and implement with approval. Drive and operate forklifts while conducting regular maintenance. Ensure compliance with all safety guidelines. Complete all assigned tasks/projects with accuracy, attention to detail, within regulations and quality control standards. Perform warehouse cleaning, organization, and upkeep. Participate in meetings, seminars, and workshops as appropriate. Recommend new approaches and procedures to ensure continual improvement in efficiency, productivity, and growth. Execute all tasks related to shipping/receiving, proactively solve issues and escalate issues as necessary. Interface with other departments to ensure information is received, issues are resolved and shipments are delivered accurately within the ship date(s). Load and unload trucks by propane forklift for all outbound shipments and inbound deliveries. Pick, pull, and label various items needed for each order from production and warehouse areas. Move boxes, buckets, and drums from skid to skid to prepare for storage and shipping. Banding and shrink-wrapping items on skids to secure them for transit prior to shipping. Pick and pull items and properly label them for outbound UPS pick up. Repackaging of materials to customer specified containers. Assist in transferring products and items between two Colors facilities. Enter PO receipts into Colors' ERP system. Enter UPS shipments into Worldship system. Prepares bills of lading for shipments. Ensuring all ISO procedures and work instructions are followed including Colors' Mission & Vision statement. Always live the Colors Core Values. Required education and experience: High School Diploma or equivalent Two (2) years forklift experience Lifting boxes up to 55 pounds Moving 250-pound drums to and from skids Good math skills Good attention to detail Good organizational skills Work well in a team environment Work well in a fast-paced environment and able to multi-task Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received Basic understanding of shipping/receiving and warehouse procedures Desired skills, education, and experience: Previous warehouse experience Forklift certified preferred Computer knowledge (UPS Worldship) Supervisory responsibility: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. Travel requirement: As needed Work environment / expected hours: The job operates in a warehouse environment. This role will use standard warehouse equipment. Days and hours of work are Monday thru Friday, 8:00a.m.
4:30p.m. (CST). Given the nature of the plastics industry after work hours of evenings and/or weekend hours may be required. Physical requirements/working conditions: This position works in an warehouse environment. It is required to wear appropriate safety equipment (i.e. safety glasses or side shields, safety shoes and/or earbuds) when applicable. While performing the duties of this job, may, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time on the telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through email. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, listen and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to move drums up to 250 pounds from skid to skid. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions.
