Accounting Manager
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our client's team in Tuskegee, Alabama. This is a long-term contract position within the higher education sector, offering an exciting opportunity to manage and oversee key accounting functions. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in fixed assets, capital projects, and construction-in-progress accounting. Responsibilities: Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all financial reporting. Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts to maintain accurate financial records. Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with auditing standards. Conduct detailed account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies. Create and post journal entries to maintain proper financial documentation. Handle accounting for fixed assets, capital projects, and construction-in-progress activities. Utilize financial systems, including Ellucian Colleague, to streamline accounting processes. Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and addressing auditor inquiries. Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment on financial reporting and compliance. Monitor and improve internal accounting procedures to enhance efficiency. Requirements: Proven experience in accounting, with a focus on fixed assets, capital projects, and construction-in-progress. Proficiency in month-end close processes and general ledger management. Strong understanding of financial statement preparation and audit practices. Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies. Expertise in creating and posting journal entries accurately. Familiarity with financial systems such as Ellucian Colleague or similar platforms. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex accounting issues.
